SELF MADE HÄMEENLINNA – EXHIBITION
The Self Made Hämeenlinna - exhibition brings together a gallery showcasing art made by the people of Hämeenlinna, a chance to take part in creating artwork together and a street art exhibition led by the Cultural Centre for Children and Youth ARX.
The Self Made Hämeenlinna – exhibition will be held 18.9. – 25.10.2020 on the second floor at Kortteli2 art gallery, the premises of former shopping mall Linna at Raatihuoneenkatu 14.
During the exhibition professional artists will be guiding theparticipants in creating collective works of art. You can join in on your own, with the family, friends or work colleagues. No previous experience is needed, it is enough that you want to leave your own unique mark!
– The Self Made Hämeenlinna – exhibition challenges people to contemplate what Hämeenlinna is like and how they see it. As the name of the exhibition suggests we all have our own experience of the town. Our own behaviour has impact on how the city presents itself to others, says Instuctor Marika Yli-Ollila, the coordinator of the exhibition.
– By means of art we want to create a collective memory of this exceptional and challenging year and lift the people’s pride of Hämeenlinna. Based on the artwork created during the exhibition for example a pattern will be designed and later given to local businesses to use freely for different commercial purposes, explains Kati Tiitola, marketing and communication Manager from Linnan Kehitys Oy.
The street art exhibition led by the Cultural Centre for Children and Youth ARX is also part of this wider project to encourage people into spontaneous creativity.
Self made Hämeenlinna – Exhibition is made possible in the co-operation with Linnan Kehitys Oy, The City of Hämeenlinna Employment team and cultural services, the Cultural Centre for Children and Youth ARX and Hämeenlinna Art Museum. The collective works of art are implemented as part of the Hämeenlinna marketing.
