What will the Art Realm of the future be like?
The inaugural exhibition in Hämeenlinna Art Museum will explore the future and “art power”
For the inaugural biennial, we will be giving our crystal balls a polish; we want to see what the Art Realm of the future will look like. And to find out, we are handing “future power” to the artists.
The term “future power” brings into focus the issue of who has the means and the opportunity to influence what our visions of the future might look like. At the first ever Art Realm exhibition, that power will sit with art and artists.
We are now on the search for visionary artists, the kind with an ear for the quiet signals. We hope to see works that carry insights and dreams, realism and everyday life, perhaps some utopias and dystopias too.
We are after fresh, new perspectives: how might the future look when the artists are in charge? What will the world be like and how will we be living in the 2050s? What power will art have, and who has “art power”? What will the Art Realm of the future look like?
Join us in building the Art Realm and submit your proposal for the inaugural exhibition. The open call for artists and artworkswill run from 31 March to 31 May 2023, and the successful applicants will be notified by the end of June 2023. Find out more here.
