Waltti travel card
You can pay all your local and regional Hämeenlinna bus transport fares with a Waltti travel card.
Waltti is a nationwide public transport ticketing system operating in more than 20 urban areas in Finland. The unified system means that tickets are similar in different cities, so you can use a Waltti card outside of your home city. Waltti travel card can be used to pay for public transport in cities such as Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kotka, Kouvola, Kuopio, Lahti, Lappeenranta, Mikkeli, Oulu, Rovaniemi, Salo and Vaasa.
You can choose either a personal card or a multi-user card. The easiest way to buy a personal travel card is from the online Waltti web shop, where you can also load a ticket product onto the card at the same time. You can also purchase a card from your local service point or from named sales points. Multi-user travel cards can only be purchased from a service point or named sales points.
Personal cards can only be used by the card owner. A personal card can include e.g. student or senior discount. If you lose your personal card, the personalizing of the card allows for the value or season remaining on it to be transferred to a new card.
A multi-user card corresponds to the possession and use of cash money, so a lost multi-user card cannot be closed nor can any value or season remaining on it be transferred to another card.
You can load your Waltti card online, at service points and at several local ticket sales points, and on board the bus. Loading on board the bus ends on 9th August 2021.
The Waltti card works in two different ways: as a value ticket or as a season ticket. You can load both types of ticket onto the same card and use the value or season ticket according to your travel needs.
A value ticket can be used to pay for individual journeys. When paid by value, the ticket is cheaper than a mobile ticket or a ticket paid by cash money. Value loaded onto the travel card can also be used on public transport in other Waltti regions.
A season ticket allows for unlimited travel in the zone of your choice within a specific time frame. A season ticket’s validity period begins from the first time the ticket is used on the bus. The season ticket can only be used in your own region.
In Waltti, the ticket prices are based on travelling zones and a customer group. The Hämeenlinna region is divided into three travel zones and nine zones travelling from Hämeenlinna to Lahti (see the map below).

Ticket prices
You can load a season ticket to a personal Waltti travel card for unlimited travel in the zone of your choice within a specific time frame. The season ticket can be for 30, 90 or 180 days.
Children and students have received a discount on season tickets and value-based tickets since the 1st of August 2020.
Value tickets
You can also load value (5–200 euros) to a personal or multi-user Waltti card. When paying by value, the price of a ticket is approximately 25-35% lower than for a corresponding single ticket paid in cash money.
*Value-based senior-prices are time-limited (Mon-Fri only 9-14 o’clock).

Transfer times
You can transfer from one vehicle to another during the validity of the ticket. The transfer time is calculated from the moment you use you Waltti card (value ticket) on the bus.
- 1 zone = 80 minutes
- 2 zones = 90 minutes
- 3 zones = 100 minutes
- 4 zones = 110 minutes
- 5-9 zones = 120 minutes
Waltti card reader app
You can use the Waltti Card Reader app to quickly and easily check the remaining value or validity period on your Waltti card.
The Waltti Card Reader app can be downloaded free of charge from Google Play. The app works on Android -phones and -tablets that are NFC-capable. If you touch a Waltti card with an NFC-capable phone, the Waltti Card Reader app will display valid season tickets, remaining value, the most recent value ticket and previous journeys made using the travel card. The app can also be used to e-mail yourself receipt information for the most recently purchased value ticket. The app reads only Waltti travel cards and day tickets.

Kastelli Service Point (Wetterhoffinkatu 2, 13100 Hämeenlinna)
At Kastelli Service Point you can buy tickets and Waltti travel cards. Kastelli is also responsible for broken and lost travel cards, handling complaints and advising customers on public transport.

Limited customer service
At the following limited customer service points, you can purchase a new Waltti card and download ticket products to your Waltti card. There you can also change your customer information, such as default zones or customer group.
