Tickets and prices
You can pay all your local and regional Hämeenlinna bus transport fares with a Waltti travel card. Notice that when paying by value (Waltti card), the ticket is cheaper than a corresponding ticket paid by cash or via mobile app.
For visitors and tourists, the easiest way to get around is to purchase either single tickets or mobile tickets (app). A single ticket can be purchased by cash from the bus driver.
The ticket prices are based on travelling zones (A-I) and a customer group. Find out more about travelling zones (in Finnish) and see a map here.
Seniors (over 70)
You can purchase single tickets with cash from the bus driver. When buying a ticket from the driver, please have small change (preferably exact change) to pay for your fare. Drivers do not have to accept notes larger than 20 euros. Debit and credit cards are not accepted on buses.
You can transfer from one vehicle to another during the validity of the ticket. The travel zones and the transfer time, which your ticket is valid for, are printed on the ticket. The transfer times are:
- 1 zone = 80 minutes
- 2 zones = 90 minutes
- 3 zones = 100 minutes
- 4 zones = 110 minutes
- 5-7 zones = 120 minutes.

Hämeenlinna public transport offers a mobile app, which can be used to buy single tickets. The app can be used to buy single tickets for adults and children (aged 7–16). You can check the prices here.
A registered user can choose different payment methods, such as a bank or credit cards. An unregistered user is charged on the mobile phone bill.
The app is available in English, Finnish and Swedish. It’s compatible with the latest versions of the Android and iOS operating systems and you can download the app from App Store or Google Play (under the name Waltti Mobiili and choose city of Hämeenlinna).
Using mobile tickets
Tickets purchased from the mobile app are valid immediately. You must present the mobile ticket to the driver on your phone screen when getting on the bus. Information on how long the ticket is valid for is displayed on the screen.
Once you have paid for the ticket, it is shown on your personal ”Tickets” -page, where all of your valid bus tickets are displayed. You can browse your previous tickets on the ”History” -page.
You can order more than one ticket on the same phone (e.g. in case of a child travelling with an adult).
At Palvelupiste Kastelli and some kiosks you can buy Waltti travel cards. Palvelupiste Kastelli is also responsible for broken and lost travel cards, handling complaints and advising customers on public transport.
