Hämeenlinna awarded the Finnish Olympic Committee’s Most Active Workplace in Finland certificate for the third time
The City of Hämeenlinna was the fourth public organisation to be awarded this certificate, first receiving it in 2021, and now we have achieved this recognition for the third time. The Most Active Workplace in Finland certificate is a tribute to the excellent work carried out for the benefit of staff exercise services.
We want to be pioneers in promoting staff wellbeing. For years, we have invested in promoting an active lifestyle among our staff in many different ways, both in groups and individually. We first applied for the Finnish Olympic Committee’s national Most Active Workplace in Finland certificate in 2021, and now we have received it for the third time. For us, this certificate is proof that our work to promote staff exercise has paid off.
Anne Iijalainen, Director of Personnel and Preparedness.
The city encourages and supports everyone to be active
Employees of the City of Hämeenlinna are supported in being physically active. A wide range of exercise and wellbeing coaching is available. The City of Hämeenlinna offers Epassi Flex, which includes culture, exercise, and wellbeing benefits as well as a commuting benefit. In addition, Hämeenlinna staff receive benefits and discounts at, among other places, swimming centres and gyms, as well as a wide range of other service providers.
The City of Hämeenlinna encourages its employees and work units to be active during working hours as well. Employees may exercise for up to 30 minutes per week during working hours. At best, exercise can also be incorporated into the workday, for example through walking meetings, without having to leave the workplace or even change into exercise clothing.
Once a year in the autumn, the City of Hämeenlinna holds a recovery theme week.
National recognition for excellent work

- The status, management, and resourcing of exercise
- Cooperation with occupational health care
- Exercise conditions
- Exercise services
- Exercise communications
