International Culture Quest youth exchange brings young people together in Hämeenlinna during autumn break
Hämeenlinna Youth Services is organising an international Culture Quest youth exchange during autumn break week in cooperation with young people from Sweden and Denmark. In addition to Hämeenlinna Youth Services, the event is being carried out together with youth work organisations from Luleå, Sweden, and Høje Taastrup, Denmark.
The event brings together 24 young people from Finland, Sweden, and Denmark to learn from one another, share their cultures, and carry out a unique joint project.
During the week, the young participants will get to know each other’s everyday lives, traditions, customs, and cultures through various workshops, group tasks, and shared activities. The goal of this international encounter is to increase young people’s understanding of different ways of doing things, strengthen their interaction skills, and build new friendships across national borders. Another aim is to strengthen young people’s participation, international outlook, and active citizenship.
An escape room game will be built during Culture Quest week
As the central project of Culture Quest week, the young participants will design and build their own escape room game together. All 24 participants take part in developing the game idea, building the storyline, designing the tasks, and carrying out the implementation. The design and construction of the escape room is carried out in cooperation with the local role-playing and gaming association Todellisuuspakolaiset ry, at the association’s premises. This collaboration gives the young people a chance to get familiar with the game space and the various sets and tools needed to build an escape room.
You can try out the escape room on 17 October
Anyone interested can try out the escape room on Saturday, 17 October, when the room opens to players. The escape room is located at the premises of the gaming association Todellisuuspakolaiset ry (Vanajantie 10 A, stairwell B, 4th floor). Players are welcome to join without advance registration between 3 pm and 7 pm.
Through the game, participants get to experience everything the young people have created and learned together during the week. At the same time, the event offers a chance to see international youth cooperation and creative problem-solving in practice.
Culture Quest gives young people the opportunity to learn from one another, develop their international skills, and experience the joy of success through a shared project. Building the escape room game allows participants to use their own strengths, creativity, and teamwork skills in a unique way.
