Pimeä-ARXantai is celebrated on the darkening evening of All Saints’ Day.

Open Cultural Centre ARX’s free event for the whole family will be held on Saturday, 31 October, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Verkatehdas area.

Pimeä-ARXantai is held in honor of All Saints’ Day and the darkening evenings. The event is part of the Mystical Hämeenlinna theme weeks, during which the darkness deepens in the late autumn evenings and the stories of the historic city’s past come to life.

The event takes place at Verkatehdas Werkki, Verkatehtaankuja, and Gallery ARX.

Werkki features a workshop land where visitors can create bugs for a community art piece. The artwork will be displayed on the walls of Werkki. The youngest members of the family can explore the light bins in the workshop land. In the dim witch’s kitchen, you can discover disgusting brews and jars. A themed photo point is located next to the kitchen. At the children’s disco, a DJ will keep visitors dancing, and dance moves can be followed on screens. For the bravest, we recommend the horror story point. The horror stories are rated K7, meaning they are suitable for school-aged children.

In Gallery ARX, you can explore the darkened Tuntu exhibition by flashlight. On the alley, there is a self-guided dark orienteering activity for the whole family to solve a mysterious code. Additionally, the Dancing Pumpkin and its helpers will perform on the alley at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Strange characters will be wandering the alley and Werkki. Can you find the flirtatious raven, the dark rider, or the two-headed caterpillar?

We recommend wearing a masquerade costume, which you can capture at the photo point. The Restaurant Verkatehdas café, located in the Verkatehdas lobby, will be open during the event.

ARXantait are free Children’s Saturday events for the whole family. The ARXantai program consists of themed workshops, exhibitions, performances, and concerts. The program is suitable for both children and adults. Open Cultural Centre ARX is responsible for the production of ARXantait.
