Preparations for the City Centre Campus architectural competition underway – partner selected for the sale of Visamäki facilities
The plan to relocate the Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) Visamäki campus to the centre of Hämeenlinna is progressing with the preparation of an architectural competition. A condition for the campus relocation is the sale of the current facilities located in Visamäki, for which Reagle Oy has been selected as the advisor.
Häme University of Applied Sciences and the City of Hämeenlinna are preparing an architectural competition, the aim of which is to achieve the highest possible quality, cost-effectiveness, and architecturally successful solution for the city centre campus. Five candidates will be selected for the invited competition through a public procurement process. The Finnish Association of Architects SAFA is assisting in the preparation of the competition programme and will appoint its representatives to the jury.
Our goal is to launch the architectural competition as quickly as possible, at the latest before the turn of the year.
estimates Tuomas Salonen, Director of Real Estate Development at HAMK.
Based on the reference plan resulting from the architectural competition, a local detailed plan amendment can be initiated. The reference plan examines the building, the use of the plot, and the public areas. The reference plan is being carried out in cooperation with the City of Hämeenlinna so that the city is responsible for the public areas and HAMK for the rest.
Reagle to conduct a preliminary study on the sale of the Visamäki buildings
The implementation of the City Centre Campus is conditional on the sale of HAMK’s facilities in Visamäki. Reagle Oy, a Nordic real estate advisor, has been selected as the advisor for the sale. The company has experience in carrying out similar sales processes, including with public sector operators.
The aim is to provide HAMK’s management and board with a decision-ready understanding of the entity, terms, and schedule under which the Visamäki building stock could be sold. Reagle’s report will detail, among other things, the current state of the building stock, development potential, a market overview of potential buyers, alternative paths forward, price estimates, key risks, and recommendations for further action.
The boundary conditions for the assignment include the requirement that at least buildings C, D, N, and S are sold, but the review extends to the entire building stock.
The work commenced in September 2026 and will be completed by January 2027 at the latest.
