Smart Work 2026: Improving accessibility of ARX’s website and social media with AI translations

The Smart Work page presents everyday innovations and success stories developed by the employees of the City of Hämeenlinna.

The need for translations of Open Cultural Centre ARX’s website and social media content has become evident in practical work. Recently, a growing number of customers prefer to receive information about cultural services in English rather than Finnish. Children’s Culture Coordinator Laura Kauppinen decided to harness AI to assist in translating communication content. The solution arose from a desire to make the service more customer-friendly and accessible to everyone.

With the help of AI translations, almost all content on the website www.kulttuurikeskusarx.fi and social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) can be offered in English without heavy and slow manual translation processes. The change in working methods is small and does not take much time, but for customers, the reform means not only clearly easier access to information but also an all-inclusive invitation to participate in the children’s cultural activities offered by the city.

Work continues with the development of the model and quality assurance to ensure that translations are as reliable as possible and that their tone is suitable for ARX’s communication.
