Smart Work 2027: An Innovative Network Supporting the Success of Businesses and Employers
The Smart Work page showcases everyday innovations and success stories developed by the City of Hämeenlinna’s employees.
Everything starts with strategy. For the TyöHäme Employment Area, this means that the success of businesses is also the success of the employment area. Jobs are created in businesses – the role of stakeholders is to create clear product and service packages that businesses and employers need to succeed. The better we understand the future needs of businesses, employers, and industries, the better we can support employment, skills development, and the vitality of the region.
The network has been built by carrying out a current-state analysis and a SWOT analysis to develop its operations. A steering group has been agreed for 2026–2027, and an operating model for responding to signals has also been developed and piloted within the maritime industry working group. To support network collaboration, the TyöHäme Employment Area has launched a monthly newsletter for entrepreneur organizations.
A few examples can be highlighted from the collaboration between network members. The Young Entrepreneurs concept has been developed in cooperation with the Häme Business Reactor, municipalities, 4H associations, and employment areas. The Work Design concept has been implemented in collaboration with HAMK, Kiipula, and the employment area. The concept focuses on guiding individual clients into working life as well as on employer productivity, and it has been advanced through workshops. In addition, joint work processes have been created between various stakeholders, such as the 2027 annual calendar, an event for new entrepreneurs (organized by the employment area, business development companies, and the new enterprise center), and joint company visits.
The steering group has set goals for the work for 2026–2027. Next, the focus will be on advancing the development of a shared knowledge base among the network’s actors, so that the best possible customer experience can be offered in client interactions. In addition, the network’s work will be made more visible to entrepreneurs and employers in order to boost the region’s attractiveness and retention of businesses.
