Smart Work 2027: Company Visit Data Analytics Tool: A New Era of Data-Driven Management and Forecasting

The Smart Work page showcases everyday innovations and success stories developed by the City of Hämeenlinna’s employees.

Data collected from company visits produces concrete, location-specific information about the region’s business structure, skills needs, and development potential. The consistency, content, and agreed actions from the data collected during company visits help develop data products to support local businesses. Information can be gathered on companies’ growth and investment plans, skills, training and recruitment needs, or on the services and products offered through innovations and cooperation networks.

An e-form for company visits has been introduced, enabling targeted data collection on the interface between companies and employers. The aim is to make this information available to our own organization and network partners as close to real time as possible.

Benefits achieved:

  • Information: We enable the development of regional data products.
  • Time: We can serve companies more flexibly.
  • Expertise: We strengthen TyöHäme Employment Area’s and its partners’ understanding of the company-employer interface.

The service needs of companies have been surveyed in 670 companies. A limited data sample was taken, and 460 company visits were conducted. 107 companies are planning recruitments within the next six months, and 54 are planning staff reductions. The most common service needs were related to candidate searches, job postings, and subsidies. In addition, 26 companies are interested in participating in recruitment events, 35 companies have growth objectives, and five business leads have been received from stakeholders.

We are continuing to develop the tool, and version 2.0 is now on the drawing board. A weekly summary will also be added to the tool, allowing information gathered from company visits to be quickly shared with and made available to regional network partners and stakeholders. The aim is to make use of signals from the field to develop data products and move toward greater use of forecasting information.
