Smart Work 2027: Engaging Families in an Active Lifestyle
The Smart Work page showcases everyday innovations and success stories developed by the City of Hämeenlinna’s employees.
We looked for new ways to inspire families to adopt an active lifestyle. Taking our idea from Jekku the Rabbit’s Adventure Week and the national Stair Days that fit the theme, we developed a way to challenge families to get moving together.
The early education centre has challenged families to embrace an active lifestyle. We have aimed to give families ideas and encouragement to be active together with their children. Jekku the Rabbit, pictured on the wall of the early education centre, has climbed the stairs step by step through various physical activities, working towards a surprise. (Such as: stair climbing, skating, skiing, cycling)
Families have actively taken part in physical activity and have been inspired to add more shared active moments to their everyday lives. Jekku the Rabbit has been part of the activities throughout the whole season and reached the surprise several times.
Engaging families in physical activity continues. We organise activity evenings for families, outdoor play cards are available in the early education centre’s yard for evening and weekend use, an activity bag circulates among the families, and we continue to encourage families to be active in their free time, led by Jekku the Rabbit.
