Smart Work 2027: Public Procurement Workshops

The Smart Work page presents everyday innovations and success stories developed by the employees of the City of Hämeenlinna.

The idea originated from considering how to organise procurement events that would attract more companies and foster deeper cooperation and more dialogue. The model was adopted from Päijät-Häme. Previous events, where procurement services lectured and entrepreneurs listened, were not very effective, and participant numbers began to decline.

In 2025, two workshops were organised in cooperation with Linnan Kehitys and entrepreneurs’ organisations, each with dozens of participants. The topics were timely and interesting, sparking discussion and networking. In the spring of 2026, a joint workshop was organised with Oma Häme, among others, and again we had dozens of participants. The partners now include the City of Hämeenlinna, Oma Häme, TyöHäme Employment Area, Linnan Kehitys, Hämeen Yrittäjät, Hämeenlinnan Yrittäjät, and the Häme Chamber of Commerce.

Dialogue between the city and entrepreneurs has increased, and cooperation has improved and deepened. City procurement has gained a ‘face’ among entrepreneurs, lowering the threshold for contact and bidding. The workshop has already become its own brand. Cooperation with major partners, such as Oma Häme, strengthens the visibility, interest, and credibility of the activities.

The next workshop will be held via Teams at the end of the year. Two more workshops have already been scheduled for 2027: on-site in Hämeenlinna in the spring and via Teams in the autumn.
