Smart Work 2027: The Principal’s Administrative Toolkit

The Smart Work page presents everyday innovations and success stories developed by the employees of the City of Hämeenlinna.

This development work was created as part of the Joy of Work with a Developer’s Mindset specialist vocational qualification offered by the City of Hämeenlinna. The idea arose from the principal’s own need to ease administrative work. The development project resulted in an electronic toolkit that brings together key tools and information in one place. The outcome is a service that is now in use, supporting both wellbeing at work and smoother workflows, and it is continuously developed and updated.

The electronic Principal’s Administrative Toolkit brings together the key tools, instructions, platforms, and links that principals need in their work. The toolkit is one part of the electronic administrative platform of Education Services. When planning the content, I drew on the views of other principals about what the toolkit should include, as well as on my own experience as a mentor and guide for new principals.

The idea has developed into a finished product that is now in use and is updated by the administration of Education Services.
Principals use it daily, and it helps new principals in their work. The toolkit has proven useful in speeding up access to information and supporting daily work. Principals can find the information they need in one place, without having to ask colleagues separately. The product supports better management of work.

The toolkit needs to be updated and expanded in real time. Education Services administration should continue to have a designated person responsible for keeping the toolkit up to date. New content will be added to the toolkit based on user feedback and ongoing trials.
