Strengthen your digital skills with volunteer guidance at Renko Library and Kumppanuustalo
Do you need help with using a smartphone or tablet, for example? Volunteer digital helpers offer guidance on using digital devices once a month at Renko Library (Rengonraitti 7). Bring your own device and its charger, and come ask for tips! At Digital Help, you learn and strengthen your digital skills together.
Digital Help meets four times this autumn: on Fridays 25 September, 23 October, 20 November, and 11 December from 12:00 to 13:30. In addition to digital guidance, each session has a theme with a short introduction. The first session covers using parking apps together, as well as buying travel tickets through an app or website. At the first Digital Help session, you can also suggest topics for future meetings. Let us know if you’d like to explore, for example, the suomi.fi online service, password apps, or smartphone updates as a group.
Digital Help is organised in cooperation between Volunteer Centre Pysäkki and the Renko branch of the Finnish Pensioners’ Federation (Eläkeliitto). Volunteer Centre Pysäkki also offers Digital Help in the city centre at Kumppanuustalo (Kirjastokatu 1). The Kumppanuustalo Digital Help group meets on Mondays from 15:00 to 16:30. You’re warmly welcome to come and solve digital puzzles with the help of volunteer digital helpers!
This autumn, a new Photos from Camera group will also start at Kumppanuustalo, where you can create a photo book or even a wall calendar from the digital photos on your phone, camera, or tablet. Depending on participants’ wishes, you can practise organising photos into folders, adding captions, or even creating a video presentation from your photos. A volunteer from Pysäkki will be on hand to give tips and advice as needed. Starting 12 October, tips on storing digital photos are available on Mondays from 14:30 to 16:00 in Pysäkki’s group room 103 at Kumppanuustalo. You can join at any point during the autumn and attend as often as you like.
To put together a photo book or calendar, you’ll need your own digital device. A laptop works best, but you can also create a photo book using a tablet or smartphone. Photo books are made using the Ifolor photo book app or web browser, and each participant pays for their own ordered products. Now is a great time to gather the year into a photo package or make photo gifts for loved ones for Christmas, so come along!
