The City of Hämeenlinna takes part in the national LVV26 preparedness exercise
The City of Hämeenlinna will take part in the national LVV26 preparedness exercise held on 29 September–1 October 2026. The exercise is a large-scale preparedness exercise organised by the Licensing and Supervisory Authority, with civil protection as its theme.
The exercise involves authorities, municipalities, wellbeing services counties, and other actors central to societal security and preparedness from across Finland.
The aim of the exercise is to strengthen organisations’ readiness to operate in various disruption and emergency situations. The exercise focuses particularly on developing leadership, situational awareness, communication, and cooperation between authorities and other actors.
“For residents, the most important thing is that we can secure essential services even in various disruption and crisis situations. In these situations, cooperation with other authorities becomes especially important, which is why joint preparedness exercises are a key part of the city’s preparedness,” says Anne Iijalainen, the city’s Director of HR and Preparedness.
The exercise is based on a fictional scenario in which the international security situation deteriorates and various disruptions and emergency conditions challenge the functioning of society. During the exercise, participants will practise procedures related to civil protection, leadership, and communication, among other things.
The exercise takes place within the participating organisations’ own operating environments and will not cause any disruption to the city’s services.
