Renko Comprehensive School

Renko Comprehensive School, renovated and newly built in 2013, is located in a rural parish amidst beautiful nature and excellent sports facilities. At our school, it is possible to study German as an optional A2 language.

Our school has approximately 120 pupils. Here, children and adults know each other well. In our daily life, we value pupils’ good working skills and considerate behaviour towards others. We want everyone to feel comfortable at our school.

Renko Comprehensive School rules from 1 August 2025 until further notice

These rules are valid during the school day, in clubs, during waiting periods, at celebrations, on study trips, at school camps, and other school-organised events, during school commutes, and in after-school activities.

Situations in daily work

School commutes

  • I observe traffic rules and behave politely during school commutes. When cycling to school, I always wear a helmet.
  • I arrive at school according to the timetable. I make sure I get to lessons without being late. After school, I proceed to supervised activities (after-school club, remedial teaching, waiting for transport, clubs, etc.) or leave the school premises.
  • I keep my bicycle or other means of transport in the designated area in the school yard. I do not spend break times in the area reserved for bicycles.

Smooth workflow

  • I handle all school property carefully. If I lose or damage, for example, a textbook, I will buy a new one myself.
  • I take good care of my own belongings and shared school items. I leave others’ belongings alone.
  • I only bring equipment necessary for my studies to school.
  • I behave calmly and appropriately, so that I and everyone else can enjoy being at school.
  • I walk in the school corridors.
  • The use of mobile phones and other mobile devices is prohibited during school hours without the teacher’s permission, including break times, transitions, meal times, study trips, and school celebrations. Mobile phones must be kept in a school bag or a designated box on silent mode so as not to cause disturbance. Photographing other pupils and staff without permission is strictly forbidden. Pupils are allowed essential use of a device for a justified reason. The school is not responsible for pupils’ mobile phones.

Break times

  • I go out for break and return without delay. I spend my break time on the school premises. I only leave the premises with permission from a teacher.
  • During break time, I choose my own activities. I act in a way that does not break anything, hurt or offend others, or cause danger to myself or others.
  • I keep the school yard tidy and return any equipment I use to its place. I only use break time equipment for its intended purpose.

Meals

  • During school meals, I allow others to eat in peace and observe good table manners. I taste all foods. I aim to eat what I take.

  • Kurinpito- ja ojentamistoimenpiteet lomittuvat oppilasta tukevien kasvatuskeskustelujen lomaan siten, että

Additionally, a pupil may be obliged to rectify/compensate for damage caused (PoL 35§).
  • A pupil who has neglected homework may be assigned to complete their tasks under supervision for a maximum of one hour at a time after the school day ends. The pupil’s guardian must be informed of assignments to detention and to complete tasks after the school day, as well as information regarding the denial of the pupil’s participation in teaching.
  • Home is always contacted regarding an educational discussion, either during or before the discussion. The educational discussion is documented in Wilma.
  • Causing danger by throwing stones, sticks, or snowballs leads directly to detention.
  • According to Section 36 d of the Basic Education Act, the principal or a school teacher, together or separately, has the right during the school day to confiscate from a pupil any prohibited item or substance, or any item or substance with which the pupil is disturbing teaching or learning. A phone or other mobile device is considered a disruptive item as defined by the Basic Education Act if the pupil uses it to disturb their own learning, another pupil’s learning, or the teacher’s teaching.

In matters not specifically mentioned in these school rules, general regulations concerning comprehensive schools and instructions given by teachers shall be followed.
