Welcome to a terrace tour in Hämeenlinna!
The terrace oasis at Hämeenlinna Market Square is a place to enjoy throughout the summer! In addition to cafes and food stalls, thirsty summer visitors are served by both Toribaari and Café Cheers.
Enjoy a siesta by the market square under the shelter of the historical pavilion buildings in Hämeenlinna Church Park! Terrace Restaurant Birgitta serves the most imaginative cocktails & mocktails and the most Central European atmosphere of the Hämeenlinna summer. On the menus of Paviljonki Brahe, you will find great drinks & savory snacks, as well as the city’s most popular after-work events!

At Bistro Rousti, you can enjoy the holy trinity of sourdough bread, grilled meat, and good beer – also on the terrace! On the same street, you will also find the terrace of Pub Wiljami, offering a touch of authentic pub atmosphere.
Located near the market square on the Reska pedestrian street are the cozy terrace of the renovated Hotel Emilia and the heated indoor terrace of Kummeli with its beanbag chairs. Las Palmas serves terrace-goers late into the night, with plenty of space for larger groups. As you continue further, you will come across the terrace of Hamptown Bar & Kitchen and the incredibly cute round terrace of Popino.
A glass of bubbly can also be enjoyed on Eteläkatu in the bohemian courtyard of Villa Marenki and on Kasarmikatu on the cozy street terrace of Julius’s Living Room & Noora’s Wine Bar. You should also try the terraces of Fiftari, Voudin Kellari, and Kyläkasiino on Sibeliuksenkatu! In the courtyard of Keskustalo – at Raatihuoneenkatu 13 – the meeting place SalaKapakka awaits with its sun terraces.
Music lovers head to the edge of the market square toward the always cheerful Kaima, where ‘Terassilla Raikaa!’ live nights entertain the crowds throughout the summer. ‘Behind the church,’ the live nights at Albertin Kellari also continue on the sheltered terrace side.
In the relaxed Kauriala district, just a stone’s throw from the center, a break can be enjoyed, for example, on the cozy terrace of Topcap with its extensive menu, or on the terrace of Pub Vanha Nalle, the oldest operating pub in Hämeenlinna, located opposite the historical Finnish barracks along Turuntie.

Head from the market square toward the shore and the terrace of the popular meeting place Rantakasino, which offers a pleasant setting for the hungry, the thirsty, and music lovers alike – whether you arrive on foot or by boat.
The journey continues over the Viipurintie bridge and down to the shore to enjoy the chill vibes and social-media-friendly scenery of the Cafe Rent Mahlia sun terrace! The last rays of the summer day and the most magnificent sunsets can be spotted not only at Mahlia but also from the shore terraces of Vanai Bistro & Bastu and Le Blason, located just a stone’s throw from the railway station.
A short walk from the city center, you will find Restaurant Sotkanranta, located next to the Kantola Event Park. Its beautifully appointed terrace and well-regarded menu are worth visiting even from further away.
We also recommend stopping by the magnificent riverside terrace of Miller’s BBQ at Kruununmylly, as well as the charming terrace of Wanhan raitin kievari in Hauho, which exudes 18th-century spirit.
Did you know that the historical Vanajanlinna also serves terrace-goers? Would you prefer to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine on the peaceful terrace of Carl Wilhelm while admiring the main building’s magnificent garden, or a relaxing chilled pint on the terrace of Club Restaurant Slotte while watching the activity on the golf green?
