Terms and Conditions for Booking and Cancellation of Rental Leisure Properties

Booking and Payment

The person booking the property must be of legal age and must prove their identity upon request. Bookings are made and paid for through our booking system. In exceptional cases, it is possible to arrange for the booking to be invoiced. In such cases, an invoicing fee of 15 euros will be charged.

Cancellation and Amendment of Bookings

Bookings can be cancelled free of charge in their entirety up to 14 days before the start of the booking. In such cases, we will refund the booking price, minus a 10 euro processing fee. Booking amendments can be made up to 14 days before the start of the booking. Amendments made after this period will be considered a cancellation of the original booking and a new booking.

A cancellation is deemed to have occurred at the moment the Hämeenlinna City Information Service receives notification of the cancellation. Cancellations notified outside office hours will be deemed to have occurred on the next business day. Exception to the cancellation policy: If the customer themselves, or a person living in the same household, becomes seriously ill, has an accident, or dies, the booking may be cancelled free of charge, minus a 10 euro processing fee. The cancellation must be notified without delay and substantiated in a reliable manner, e.g., with a medical certificate.

Compensation for Damages, Complaints, and Stay at the Property

The booker is responsible for ensuring that the property and its surrounding area are subjected to a final clean. If the cleaning has not been carried out or has been carried out inadequately, we will invoice the customer for the costs incurred from cleaning the property.

The booker is responsible for the property and its movable property during the rental period. The booker is liable for any
damages caused to the movable property or structures of the cottage
by them or their guests, either intentionally or through negligence. If the structures of the property or its movable property have been damaged during the rental period, we will invoice the customer for the incurred costs according to actual expenses. The customer is obliged to immediately report any damage caused to the property or its movable property.

The accommodation property may not be used by more people than stated in the property information, unless otherwise agreed separately with the Hämeenlinna City Information Service. Camping and pitching tents in the property’s yard are prohibited.

Open fires are prohibited during a forest fire warning

During a forest fire warning, no fires may be lit at designated fire pits maintained by the city.

Force Majeure

The City of Hämeenlinna is not responsible for any damage caused to the customer due to unforeseen force majeure or similar reasons (e.g., power outages or natural phenomena such as algal blooms, or animals such as mice and insects). These force majeure events include damages that were not caused by the landlord and whose consequences could not reasonably have been prevented. The City of Hämeenlinna is also not responsible for damages or consequences caused by normal natural phenomena.
