City of Hämeenlinna website has been renewed

The City of Hämeenlinna’s new website was launched on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. The new online service brings together city services, current news, and the opportunities offered by Hämeenlinna in one place more clearly than before.

Aiming for a user-oriented online service

The goal of the website renewal has been to build a more user-oriented online service where information can be found easily regardless of the device used. The starting points for the renewal have been feedback from users, results of user surveys, and observations from site analytics. Based on these, the site structure has been clarified, content has been organized according to user needs, and texts have been updated to be more understandable. Target-group-specific menus help different user groups find the services and information they need more smoothly than before.

One of the most significant updates is the English version of the website. The entire site is now also available in English through AI-assisted translations. Some of the content has been reviewed and finalized for the launch, and unreviewed pages openly state that the content has been translated using AI. Thanks to this solution, information regarding city services, activities, and current affairs is better available to international residents, employees, students, businesses, and tourists.

The website renewal has been a major joint effort for us, where we have aimed to look at the site specifically from the users’ perspective. We hope that residents, tourists, businesses, and everyone interested in Hämeenlinna will find the information they need more easily, but also find new ideas and inspiration to explore the city’s services, events, and other offerings.

Mia Hällström, Communications and Marketing Manager.

The website brings Hämeenlinna’s services together more extensively

With the renewal, the MyIntegration service for international residents, as well as the websites for Hämeenlinna Meetings & Congress and Hämeenlinnan Liikuntahallit Oy, have been integrated into the hameenlinna.fi site. In addition, the site offers more information than before about the city’s hobby, sports, event, and leisure opportunities for both residents and visitors.

The renewal has utilized more integrations between different systems than before. For example, information on tourist destinations is brought to the website from Visit Finland’s DataHub, information on sports facilities from the national Lipas system, and event information from Hämeen Menoinfo. The information is updated on the website automatically from its original sources, which improves the timeliness of the data and reduces overlapping maintenance work.
