The City Centre Vision is a strategic document that brings together the city’s goals and concrete measures to strengthen the vitality, services, housing, business operations, culture, and events of the city centre. At the same time, the vision supports sustainable mobility and serves as a guideline for zoning, urban planning, and investments.

Birger Jaarlinkatu 24, 13100 Hämeenlinna

The Kotirinne building of the Kaivokatu Early Education Centre will undergo a comprehensive renovation. The objective is to create a healthy, safe, and pleasant early childhood education environment for decades to come.

Following the renovation, the building will accommodate two daycare groups. The total number of users is approximately 50. The building has a gross floor area of 475 square metres.

The oldest sections of Kotirinne date back to the 1840s. The building has undergone several modifications over the years regarding both its structures and intended use. The building is protected under the local detailed plan; therefore, the renovation work will preserve its cultural-historical values while improving its functionality and safety.

The renovation project takes into account the building’s long life cycle, ease of maintenance, and life-cycle costs. The yard area will be modified only to the extent required by the construction work. The outbuilding located on the plot will remain unchanged.

Special attention is paid to safety during the construction work. The site planning takes into account the traffic on the adjacent street as well as the safe use of the other buildings and yard areas of the early education centre throughout the entire duration of the project.
