Building Construction Management

The city’s building construction projects support the service network. These projects ensure that residents have access to safe, functional, and modern facilities. We construct new buildings and renovate existing structures, such as schools, early education centres, and libraries. These projects are designed to respond to changes in service needs and ensure the functionality of facilities for the future.

The Building Construction Management Unit of the City of Hämeenlinna’s Facility Services is responsible for the construction management of building investments for the city and its group companies. These projects include schools, early education centres, libraries, and other buildings owned by the city and its group companies.

The City Council decides on annual investments based on proposals from the committees. The Building Construction Management Unit is responsible for project planning, tendering, implementation management, and supervision.

In construction projects, we emphasize quality, safety, and healthy facilities. Contracts are tendered based on overall economic advantage, where both price and quality are evaluated.

The quality assessment takes into account factors such as:

  • project schedule management
  • site cleanliness management
  • moisture control management
  • contractor experience and previous references.

Evaluation criteria are always defined according to the objectives and specific characteristics of the project.
