Divisions

The operations of the City of Hämeenlinna are divided into divisions that are responsible for various services and tasks. The divisions manage, for example, early childhood education and care, education, culture, well-being and the built environment of the city.

Each division plans and develops its own services and is organizes them for the residents. The divisions work together with the city leadership to ensure that services meet the needs of the residents and support the objectives of the city.

Division of Education and Well-Being

The division is led by the Director of Education and Well-Being, Päivi Raukko. The division has 1,450 employees and total costs of approximately €150M.

The division is divided into three result areas:

• education, youth and children’s cultural services,
• early childhood education services, and
• cultural and leisure services.

Division of Urban Environment

The division is led by the Director of Urban Structure, Tarja Majuri. The number of personnel is approximately 235 people and total costs are approximately €64.8 million.

The division is divided into four result areas:

• land use planning,
• infrastructure,
• regulatory services, and
• facility services.

Corporate Services

Corporate Services promote and implement the City Strategy. The task of Corporate Services is to create the conditions for the operations of the City Council, the City Board and the rest of the city organization. In addition, Corporate Services are responsible for the employment services of the city.

Corporate Services are led by the Chief Executive. The division has approximately 60 employees and total costs are approximately €49.3 million.

Corporate Services are divided into four areas of responsibility:

• Economic development and employment, Director of Economic Development Niklas Lähteenmäki
• Human resources and administration, Director of Human Resources and Preparedness Anne Iijalainen
• Strategy and information management, Director of Strategy Markku Rimpelä
• Finances, Director of Financial Affairs Jussi Oksa
