Suspected food poisoning and complaints about food products

If you suspect that food you have sold, served, or consumed yourself in Hämeenlinna or Hattula has caused food poisoning, an allergic reaction, or other harm, report the matter to Hämeenlinna environmental health services.

Food poisoning refers to an infection or poisoning contracted from food or drinking water. It is most often caused by viruses, bacteria, or toxins they produce. Food poisoning can cause various symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.

Harm caused by food or drinking water may include, for example, a foreign object or unusual odour in drinking water.

Consumer reports

If you have visited a business selling or serving food in Hämeenlinna or Hattula and suspect that the food or drink you consumed has caused food poisoning symptoms, an allergic reaction, or other harm, submit a consumer report via the environmental health services’ electronic Ilppa notification service. We also recommend providing feedback directly to the business.

Operator reports

As a food business operator, you are obligated to file a suspected food poisoning report immediately upon learning that a food product you have handled has caused food poisoning or another defect.

Submit your report via the environmental health services’ electronic Ilppa notification service. The supervisory authority will request additional information from you if necessary and provide instructions.
