Most popular ski tracks in Hämeenlinna

  • Ahveniston motor racing circuit tracks: Several different loops are available in the motor racing circuit area. During winter, the circuit is transformed into a skiing centre, with a loop track of approximately 3 km prepared using stored and cannon-made snow. This is often the first skiable track in the central city. The Kahtoilampi track has lighting and a gentle gradient. From the motor racing circuit, you can also access connecting tracks that lead through Hirsimäki all the way to Tervaniemi.
  • Lammi, Konnari Ski Centre: The Konnari Ski Centre offers early-season skiing opportunities in the villages of Hämeenlinna. Thanks to the use of snow cannons, the track is often opened quickly at the start of winter. Touring tracks towards Kaunisniemi and Tuulos also depart from Konnari.
  • Aulanko area tracks: The Aulanko lake track is one of the city’s most popular ski tracks, where you can enjoy the landscapes alone or with a dog.
The Aulanko Ten is an easy forest route with beautiful scenery. You can also enjoy skiing after dark on the 4.3 km or 6.4 km long routes with lighting in Aulanko. These are more demanding options, featuring steep climbs and descents. From Aulanko, you can easily access the easy track loop at the nearby Eversti golf course.
  • Tervaniemi: The hilly terrain of the illuminated route offers a challenge for active skiers, or you can enjoy the flat lake track maintained in cooperation with local residents.
  • Lassila field loop: A flat route set in the Hattelmalanharju landscape, popular among fitness enthusiasts.

Tracks with lighting allow for skiing in the evenings. For example, the lights on the route in Aulanko are on from 7:00 AM and remain lit until 10:00 PM.

Specific times and locations are reserved for those skiing with dogs: skiing with a dog is permitted on the track with lighting in Kankaantausta in the evenings after 6:00 PM.

Hämeenlinna also has a connection to the Hattula track network, which further expands the available route options.

Touring tracks and rest stops

Touring tracks run through the heart of nature and forests, offering opportunities for a peaceful pace and recreational skiing. Along the tracks, you can stop at campfire sites to enjoy snacks and the scenery.

Touring tracks are maintained according to snow conditions; therefore, the current status should always be verified from the ski track map.

Campfire huts and sites are located in areas including:

  • Iittala (Allunkainen loop)
  • Tervaniemi Recreation Area
  • Aulanko Recreation Centre
  • Soininsaari

Kicksledding at Lake Alajärvi

As an alternative form of winter exercise, you can try kicksledding on the ice of Lake Alajärvi. Several routes are plowed on the ice, and the area has approximately 100 kicksleds available for free use, as well as three sleigh carousels.

The maintenance of the sledding routes is based on voluntary work and varies according to ice conditions.
