Exploring the trails is an easy way to discover the region’s unique nature. On many routes, information boards and points provide details on forest plant species, animals and geological features. Several trails also feature campfire sites, which invite you to take a break for snacks in the heart of nature.

The nature trails are located close to residential areas – often accessible directly from your doorstep – yet they still offer the chance to escape everyday life and find peace in the sounds of nature.

Lit routes

Hämeenlinna has several lit outdoor routes that allow for safe and comfortable exercise even during the darker times of the year. Lighting makes the routes easily accessible, particularly in autumn and winter when daylight is scarce.

The lit routes are suitable for various types of exercise throughout the year. In summer, they are perfect for evening walks and runs; in autumn and spring, they provide a bright setting for daily outdoor activities; and in winter, many of the routes serve as lit cross-country ski tracks.
