Terms and conditions for booking, cancellation, and use of rental berths and rowing boat shore-pulling areas

In these terms, *city refers to the City of Hämeenlinna. The terms are part of the rental agreement, and breaching them may lead to the termination of the agreement. Any disputes will primarily be settled between the contracting parties.

A boat space can be rented from the city by an individual, company, or community. The booking is binding as soon as the booking fee has been paid.

A boat space is booked either in the electronic booking system or at a city service point where payment is possible. The full amount must be paid at the time of booking. Book and pay for a boat space in the electronic booking system.

The object of the rental is a boat space at a rental boat pier or a numbered rowing boat space. The purchaser of a token has the right to store their rowing boat in the shore-pulling areas for rowing boats designated by the City of Hämeenlinna. The token must be attached to the bow of the boat and must remain attached and legible at all times. If a token is lost, apply for a new one immediately at a service point. Motorboats must not be stored in numbered spaces or shore-pulling areas intended for rowing boats.

The depths of the berths are indicative (taking water levels into account). The tenant is obliged to ensure and take care that the boat space at the rental boat pier or boat shore is suitable for their boat in terms of draught, width, length, and height. The City of Hämeenlinna is not responsible for damage caused by underwater rocks or objects.

The rental agreement for a boat space is valid for one boating season at a time. The boating season is the period between 15 May and 15 October of each calendar year. In rowing boat shore-pulling areas and numbered spaces, the boat can be stored year-round if the space fee or token has been paid. The token must be attached to a visible place on the rowing boat. New tokens are collected from Service Point Kastelli.

The tenant can renew the rental agreement annually by paying the boat space rent by the due date, either electronically via the renewal link or at a city service point where payment is possible.

If the person renting a renewable boat space does not pay the boat space fee by the due date, the boat space will become available for others to rent.

If the cancellation is made before the start of the rental period, the booking fee will be refunded minus a €10 processing fee.

If switching from a more expensive space to a cheaper space during the boating season, no refund will be made for the amount paid.

If switching from a cheaper space to a more expensive space during the boating season, the boater must first pay for the more expensive space, after which they will be refunded the price of the cheaper space, minus a €10 processing fee.

If a rental berth is cancelled by 15 June, the renter will be refunded 50% of the amount paid.

If a rented berth is cancelled on or after 16 June, no refund will be made for the amount paid.

If the person renting a renewable boat space does not pay the boat space fee by the due date, the right to store the boat in the city’s shore-pulling area will end.

Paid tokens are not refunded.

The tenant must ensure that no danger, injury, or damage is caused to the piers, other structures, equipment, and fittings, or their users. In the event of damage, the tenant is obliged to compensate for any damage caused to the pier, other structures, or other boats due to a mooring error or other negligence.

If a boat sinks in the area of rental piers or rental rowing boat spaces, the renter of the space must take immediate action to raise the boat and to prevent oil damage or other emissions. If the person responsible for the boat does not take immediate action to raise the boat, the city has the right to raise the boat at the responsibility and expense of the person who rented the boat space. The tenant is always responsible for all costs arising from raising the boat, cleaning up emissions, averting danger, and cleaning and restoring the area.

The city is not responsible for property damage or personal injury caused by storms, floods, abnormal weather conditions, or other exceptional natural conditions. Any damage or defects observed in the piers must be reported to the city.

If a boat is moored at a rental pier in a space other than the one specified in the rental agreement, the city has the right to immediately move or have the boat moved and to charge the costs incurred from the move to the tenant.

A trailer structure is permitted in shore-pulling areas and numbered spaces, provided it does not exceed the width of the boat. No other structures are allowed on the shores.

The tenant must keep the shore tidy and free of litter.

The tenant only has access to their own pier or numbered space. In shore-pulling areas, any free space within the designated area may be chosen.

The tenant is not permitted to use other people’s boat spaces or move other people’s boats to another location without separate permission.

Boats and other items moored in unauthorised spaces or shore-pulling areas, as well as abandoned items, will be removed and may be stored by the city at the tenant’s expense and responsibility. Notice of removal will be given 14 days in advance by a notice attached to the object to be removed. After three months of storage, the city has the right to sell or otherwise dispose of unclaimed boats and other items.
