The City of Hämeenlinna’s management team is committed to advancing the adoption of artificial intelligence in a controlled, safe, and strategic manner. The change is led by Strategy Director Markku Rimpelä, and the work is supported by a dedicated expert group that guides development and ensures the safe use of solutions.

In addition to training, this expertise is strengthened above all through practical trials, learning on the job, and sharing good experiences.

How is artificial intelligence used in practice?
Artificial intelligence is already being used, for example, in auditing, integration services, and through various bots and content agents that make work easier. New solutions are also being developed, such as a system to support the handling of customer feedback and a search engine for the staff intranet. All development work strictly follows the City of Hämeenlinna’s data security and data protection requirements.
The City of Hämeenlinna has also adopted a European artificial intelligence platform, which enables the safe development of innovative solutions using both public and internal data. The AI platform runs on Nordic servers, where the cool climate and renewable energy sources make it a more environmentally friendly choice.
AI trials aim to deliver practical benefits in everyday life: faster processes, better use of information, and smoother services for both staff and residents.
