Ice swimming
The City of Hämeenlinna has several ice swimming spots that are open all year round.
You can buy a season pass for the entire season for €42, and a one-time code for a single visit for €4.
- The season pass costs €42 and is valid for one season at a time (valid until 15 October each year). You will receive a personal door code that gives you access to the changing facilities at all of the city’s ice swimming spots. The same code works at all locations and can also be used during the summer season.
- If you swim less frequently, you can purchase a one-time code. It costs €4 and is valid for 12 hours from the time of purchase. The one-time code also grants access to all changing facilities.
For regular use, you can also purchase an access tag, i. e. a physical identifier, which costs €25. You can buy it separately if you already have a season pass, or together with a season pass for a combined price of €67. The access tag is collected from the Hämeenlinna City Service Point at Kastelli Service Point.
The season pass, one-time code, and access tag can also be purchased from the Hämeenlinna City Service Point. All listed prices include 13.5% VAT (the VAT rate applicable to sports services). ePassi is also accepted as a payment method at the City Service Point and in the online shop.

Frequently asked questions about ice swimming
Can I return an old key with a deposit?
The keys do not have a deposit; they are purchased with a one-time payment.
Where can I pay the annual fee for the next year and get an RFID access tag?
Annual fees can be paid in the online shop, at the Kastelli Service Point, at the Kalvola Service Point or at the Hauho Service Point, where you can purchase both the season pass and the RFID access tag.
You can also pay first in the online shop and then collect the access tag from the Kastelli Service Point.
Does the same PIN code and RFID access tag work at all the ice swimming facilities?
Yes, it does.
What happens if there is a power outage affecting the locks? How do I get in?
The access system has batteries that activate automatically during power outages. The locks continue to function normally even during outages.
Do the cabins have an emergency exit, and how do I get out if the electronic lock does not work?
The door opens normally from the inside using the handle and the lock-release knob.
What should I do if I forget my code or lose my tag on the way back from the ice hole?
- Follow the ice swimming instructions and never go swimming alone!
- Securitas is on call 24 hours a day, and if you have your phone with you outside, you can call them. Alternatively, you can open the door using a maintenance code provided by Securitas, or an on-call patrol will come to open the door with a master key if the entire reader device has, for some reason, stopped working.
- If you are alone and all your belongings, including your phone, are inside the changing facilities, there is no option but to wait for others to arrive or make your way to the nearest inhabited area, from where you can call Securitas’s emergency service or the emergency response centre.
- The Hämeenlinna City Service Point assists with codes or access rights on weekdays from 9–12 and 13–16.
Can I share my door code with a friend?
No, you may not. The door code and access tag work for a limited number of visits per day. In addition, the system automatically reports any attempted misuse, and access rights are suspended if misuse is detected.
