4. The old village street of Hauho
On summer Saturdays, the village of Hauho is filled with the bustle of a traditional market event! After the market, head towards the Old Village Street of Hauho, which, with its idyllic wooden houses, is one of the best-preserved church village ensembles in Finland. The lush courtyards and narrow alleys offer much to see, and on summer weekends, you can find yard sales and Mikonheikki’s charming granary cafe.
From the Vuorenharju observation tower located along the street, a breathtaking view opens up over the clear waters of Hauhonselkä. Down at the shore, you can take a dip in the water and admire the village atmosphere from the perspective of the small boat harbor. The crowning glory of the street is the magnificent medieval stone church of Hauho, dating back to the 1500s.
At the end of your walk, it is worth stopping for lunch or refreshments at Wanhan Raitin Kievari, which is said to have operated as an inn as far back as the 1600s.

Adjacent to the cafe is a lifestyle-style shop where, in addition to clothing and interior design products, you can buy products from both the farm and nearby producers, such as broad bean flour, lamb and Highland cattle meat, and sheepskins.
You can also stay overnight at Tiirinkoski! The courtyard features two high-quality and beautifully decorated loft apartments, set in the middle of an authentic rural landscape. Stepping out the door, you can hear and sense the animals of Tiirinkoski Farm, from sheep to Highland cattle!
