The City of Hämeenlinna will distribute summer job vouchers again in 2027. We will add more information about applying for the vouchers and invoicing, as well as the necessary forms, to this page closer to the application period.
What is a summer job voucher?
A summer job voucher is financial support granted by the city to an employer who hires a young person from Hämeenlinna for a summer job. The young person must be between 15 and 24 years old.
Support amount
Employ a young person for at least two weeks, but less than four weeks, and pay a salary of at least €400 to receive €200 in support.
Employ a young person for at least four weeks and pay a salary of at least €800 to receive €400 in support.
The salary paid to the young person must be the net salary, i.e., the amount remaining after all deductions. Support amounts cannot be combined, even if the employment relationship lasts six weeks or more.
How to apply for a summer job voucher?
The young person fills out the application form, after which both the young person and the employer receive an email regarding the granting of the voucher. Information about the granted voucher will be sent as soon as possible, usually within a few days.
Voucher terms and conditions
One summer job voucher is available per young person. The voucher can be used for one employer.
The employer can be a company, an association or the City of Hämeenlinna (a Business ID is required). Municipalities other than Hämeenlinna, private households, families or private individuals cannot act as employers.
The employing company can be located anywhere in Finland.
To receive a summer job voucher, the young person finds an employer themselves and fills out the voucher application form with them.
There is no limit on the number of summer job vouchers per company. However, we hope that as many employers as possible will be able to employ a young person using the voucher.
The City of Hämeenlinna does not define the young person’s salary, working hours or other details related to the employment relationship. The employer must follow the collective agreement of their own sector in these matters.
For employers
Invoice the voucher electronically. Submit the payment form and the young person’s salary certificates by the specified deadline.
The support will not be paid without a payslip and a work certificate. Please check the information on the form before submitting.
The City of Hämeenlinna pays the support to the account specified by the employer. If payments are not ordered by the deadline or if the terms of the voucher are not met, the value of the summer job voucher will not be paid to the employer.
The employer must ensure that the salary complies with collective agreements.
If the voucher is not used for any reason, please notify Employment Coordinator Sara Rantanen.
