How can I promote my well-being during unemployment?
Unemployment can be a stressful time, during which it is worth investing in your own mental and physical well-being. During unemployment, you can take advantage of free exercise sessions and groups, participate in culture for free with Kaikukortti, or attend a free health check-up for the unemployed.
Free exercise sessions
If you are an unemployed jobseeker, you can participate in free swimming and gym sessions at Hämeenlinna’s swimming centres:
The sessions are intended for the unemployed residents of Hämeenlinna. You must show a certificate of valid jobseeker status, either printed or on your phone, when you arrive for the session.
Free exercise groups
Liikuntahallit organizes exercise groups, some of which are free of charge and open to everyone.
Kaikukortti helps you participate in culture even if your financial situation is tight. With a Kaikukortti card you can obtain free tickets to cultural venues and events, as well as register for certain courses. Kaikukortti is personal and free of charge.
If you are an unemployed jobseeker, you are entitled to a free health check-up. The health check-up promotes your work ability, functional capacity, health, and well-being. If necessary, you will be referred for more detailed examinations. Information about your health helps in planning suitable work or training for you.
Discuss with your employment agent if your health has not been checked for a long time, if you feel that there have been changes in your health or well-being or if you are concerned about your ability to work and function. Your employment agent can provide a referral to a health check-up for the unemployed organized by the well-being services county.
First, complete an electronic health check-up online via the Omaolo service. You will receive an assessment of your health and health-promoting instructions. If necessary, you will receive instructions on how to see a doctor.
