The centre of the former Kalvola district is Iittala, which is known as a village of handicrafts, design, and art, complete with its own railway stop. The glass factory established in Iittala in 1881 is part of the history of Finnish design and one of the district’s most well-known attractions.

The villages of Kalvola include, among others, Heinu, Iittala, Kutila, Kuurila, Sauvala, and Sääksniemi.
