The Education and Well-Being Committee is responsible for organizing early childhood education, pre-primary education, comprehensive education, youth services, cultural services, and library services, as well as promoting well-being and health.
The Committee generally meets once a month.
Education and Well-Being Committee’s meeting dates autumn 2026
The Education and Well-Being Committee agenda is published no later than five days before the meeting, and the minutes one week after the meeting. Minutes are available on the administrative publishing platform for two years following the meeting.
Committee members and their personal deputy members are elected for the term of the Council, unless the Council decides on a shorter period. The Committee has 11 members. The Council appoints a Chair and two Vice Chairs from the members. The Chair and Vice Chairs are elected representatives.
The term of the current Education and Well-Being Committee is 10 June 2025–31 May 2027 (City Council decision 9 June 2026 § 83).

Education and Well-Being Committee’s Individual Section
An Individual Section operates under the Education and Well-Being Committee. The Individual Section has 5 members, each with personal deputy members. The Committee elects the members of the Section from among the Committee’s regular and deputy members.
The Individual Section handles claims for rectification concerning individuals and other matters falling under the Education and Well-Being Committee’s responsibilities that have not been delegated to the officials. Result area directors act as the presenting officials of the Individual Section.
