Joint Waste Management Committee

The Waste Management Committee Kolmenkierto is the joint waste management authority for 13 municipalities. The municipalities are: Hattula, Hausjärvi, Hyvinkää, Hämeenlinna, Janakkala, Järvenpää, Kerava, Loppi, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Riihimäki, Tuusula, Valkeakoski.

The Waste Management Committee is the regional body for the shareholder municipalities of Kiertokapula Oy, and its operations are governed by its own rules of procedure and an agreement between the municipalities.

Waste management authority

• approves waste management regulations
• decides on deviances from waste management regulations
• approves the waste charge
• determines waste fees, processes notices and applications concerning them, and approves the transfer of waste fees to Enforcement
• decides on the principles of waste transport and area collection, and
• maintains the register of waste transport and biowaste treatment on properties as required by Section 143 of the Waste Act.

The Committee usually meets every two months.

The Waste Management Committee’s agenda is published before the meeting and the minutes are published the day after the review date. The minutes are available on the administrative publishing platform for two years after the meeting.

Waste Management Committee Members

The Hämeenlinna City Council elects the Committee members from the members selected by the involved municipalities for a term of the municipal election period. The Committee has fourteen (14) members, each with a personal deputy member.
