Beginner’s swimming schools
Hämeenlinna Liikuntahallit Oy organises beginner swimming courses for children under school age (5–7 years old) and for 1st–2nd graders from Hämeenlinna and Hattula at the swimming centres in Hämeenlinna and Lammi.
The beginner swimming courses are intended for children who cannot yet swim (swimming ability under 10 metres). Children become familiar with water and swimming techniques through play. The aim of the beginner swimming course is to help children overcome any fear of water, get used to being in water, learn the basics of swimming such as diving, gliding, floating, and finding the correct swimming position, and to achieve a basic swimming ability of 10 metres.
