Vonkamies rental lean-to
Vonkamies is a rentable wilderness lean-to shelter located on the shore of Lake Tarusjärvi in the Tarus hiking area. Situated in a peaceful lakeside landscape, the shelter is suitable for small groups staying overnight in nature.
The lean-to can accommodate a maximum of five people. The campfire site is located outside the shelter. Firewood is included in the rental, and there is a separate wood shed. A dry toilet is located nearby.
Booking and Payment
The rental price for the lean-to is €549 per day. The rental period begins at 14:00 and ends at 12:00 the following day.
Keys
Collect the key for the lean-to in advance. You can choose from two collection points:
- Hämeenlinna City Advisory Services, Service Point Kastelli, Wetterhoffinkatu 2 (please note that the service is closed at weekends)
- Café-Restaurant Modetti in Padasjoki, Keskustie 14 (key fee €5)
Please bring a form of identification and your booking confirmation.
You do not need to notify the key collection point in advance, but the key must be returned to the same location from which it was collected.
Location and arrival
The nearest address is Kelkutteentie 147, 17470 Maakeski. This address will take you to the vicinity of the lean-to, but the shelter cannot be reached by car. Please leave your car in a suitable place and continue on foot.
When arriving via Hämeenlinna, it is not possible to drive to the Tarus hiking area through the Evo area, as the road is closed.
Turn off Road 24 (Lahti – Jämsä) onto Taruksentie. The Tarus junction is located approximately 5 km from the Padasjoki ABC service station towards Lahti. Drive along Taruksentie for 2 km. At the Y-junction, turn left onto Kelkutteentie and drive for about 2 km. Vonkamies is located on the shore of Lake Iso-Tarus. Note:
Weak network connection in the area
Bring a map to ensure you find your way easily. As network and mobile phone coverage is weak in the area, please bring a map either printed or downloaded to your phone.
Terms of use, booking, and cancellation
The hirer is responsible for the lean-to and for ensuring that the instructions provided for the use of the space are followed
throughout the rental period. At the end of the rental period, the area must be tidied and the campfire extinguished.
The hirer is liable for any damage caused by improper use of the premises or
any potential cleaning costs. Use of the lean-to must not cause a disturbance to the environment or damage
to the property or movable assets. Particular caution must be exercised during forest fire warnings.
It is not permitted to pitch tents or tent saunas in the grounds.
