In Hämeenlinna, you can also enjoy everyday life with a furry friend.
Hämeenlinna has a dog park at Käänteenaro in Kauriala. The park has separate fenced areas for small and large dogs, ensuring that dogs can be outside safely with others of their own size.
Käänteenaro Dog Park is located between Puhelinkatu and Eino Leinon katu, and the park has good traffic connections. There are short paths and benches for owners in the area. Parking is available along the nearby streets.
Dog swimming
During the summer, you can take your dog to swim at several designated swimming spots across the city. Dogs are also permitted to swim at other shores that are not public beaches. Please do not take dogs to public beaches or playgrounds.
Avoid swimming if there is blue-green algae in the water.
Dog-friendly swimming spots with a sign:
Virveli and Vikmaninlahti: a sandy swimming spot, bench nearby
Varikonniemi: a sandy shore and a lounging pier
Alajärvi: a rocky-bottomed shore, also serves as a boat launch spot
Katumajärvi: a peaceful spot, the shore can become muddy
Always keep your dog on a leash in urban areas. From the beginning of March to mid-August, dogs must be kept on a leash or be easily leashed also elsewhere in nature. Do not keep a dog off-leash on someone else’s property without permission.
Ensure that your dog does not cause danger or disturbance to people or other animals.
Clean up after your dog
Please pick up your dog’s droppings and take them to the nearest bin. Avoid letting your dog urinate near monuments and works of art, as this causes damage to them.
