Accessible Hämeenlinna
Hämeenlinna is developing its services, buildings, and environment to be as accessible and easy to use as possible for everyone.
Accessibility means designing and constructing the physical and technological environment, as well as providing services, so that every individual can function in the environment and use the services, regardless of age, gender, state of health, or social, psychological, or physical capacity.
The City of Hämeenlinna follows a special-level accessibility plan. Measures aimed at improving accessibility are defined in the City of Hämeenlinna’s plan for promoting wellbeing, health, and safety (the HYTETU plan). The HYTETU plan includes the city’s accessibility plan.
On the Public Transport page, you can find information on how to travel on local transport using a wheelchair, a walker, or with a stroller, as well as how visually impaired passengers are accommodated in public transport.
Accessibility Reviews
Accessibility reviews are carried out in the city’s buildings and facilities. These reviews assess how well a facility suits different types of users.
Reviews are conducted by the facilities’ own staff, the accessibility review working group, and the Council for Persons with Disabilities. Information on the accessibility of buildings and other facilities can be found on their respective websites.
Did you notice something related to accessibility?
You can give feedback on the accessibility of a facility through the feedback system. In the feedback system, first select the facility, location, or service your feedback concerns. Your feedback will then be forwarded to the person responsible for that facility.
Accessible Communication
We want the city’s online services and digital content to be accessible to everyone. That is why we aim to produce all material published online in accordance with accessibility requirements.
We check the accessibility of documents before publication. We add alternative texts to images and subtitles and necessary text equivalents to videos. This allows the content to also be used by people who rely on screen readers.
We regularly review the accessibility of our online services and continuously develop them. You can find more information in the accessibility statement.
