Rainbow-friendly Hämeenlinna

Hämeenlinna is a partner in the Finnish We Speak Gay partnership network. The network supports the development of a safer, more inclusive society as well as the growth of rainbow tourism. The partnership supports the Attractive Hämeenlinna city strategy, which emphasizes a sense of community and equality.
Through this partnership, Hämeenlinna is making its communications more rainbow-inclusive. City employees take part in training sessions and workshops where they learn concrete ways to promote equality. These lessons are applied on the city’s website and in other communications. The aim is respectful encounters, ensuring that everyone is seen and heard exactly as they are.
Pride flag-raising for equality
The City of Hämeenlinna has taken part in Pride flag-raising since 2019. The flag is raised every year outside the Town Hall during Helsinki Pride.
The rainbow flag is a strong message of equality. By raising it, Hämeenlinna shows its support for the rainbow community and makes clear that the city belongs to everyone.
