A special diet must be based on the treatment of a medical condition or other health-related reasons. In accordance with the National Allergy Programme (2008–2018), mild allergic symptoms should no longer be managed by avoiding the food item that causes the symptoms, but rather through exposure and gradual desensitisation. Consequently, notifications to catering services are not made for food items that cause mild allergic symptoms. It is only justified to exclude essential food items from a diet if they have been proven, through testing, to cause significant harm or life-threatening symptoms.
The school nurse or the director of the daycare centre will forward the notification to the catering services.
