In Hämeenlinna, young people can participate in activities at Youth Centres, receive support from Outreach Youth Work, and make use of the free services offered by the One-Stop Guidance Center Ohjaamo for matters related to education, employment, and well-being.
Youth services
Youth Services employs trained Youth Workers and instructors. Youth Workers work where young people are—in schools, at Youth Centres, at events, and in shopping centres.
Youth Centres are places where Youth Workers are always present, and they are substance-free and safe spaces for young people to spend time. At Youth Centres, young people play games, do crafts, and spend time talking about different things, for example. Youth Centres are generally for young people aged 13–17. Occasionally, Youth Centres hold evenings intended only for those over 18.
Outreach Youth Work supports young adults under 29 who need help with everyday life or finding direction for the future. Outreach Youth Workers offer free and confidential support when life feels overwhelming or you are uncertain about your next steps.
A Youth Worker supports young people’s well-being, independence, and participation. The work is confidential walking alongside. A young person or a parent may contact Youth Workers directly.
