Addresses

The municipality primarily assigns addresses to properties and buildings used for construction or housing. If necessary, an address can also be assigned to other locations, such as boatyards, jetties, or other clearly identifiable sites.

Please note that the municipality does not compensate for the address change costs. The property owner, company, or resident is responsible for any expenses arising in the matter.
As a property owner, you must acquire and visibly install an address number sign. This ensures, for example, that rescue authorities can quickly locate the property. Number signs are sold in hardware stores and other relevant retailers.

If there are multiple residential buildings on the plot, mark the address number on each building. If necessary, place a informational board at the beginning of the plot’s driveway, indicating the location of the different buildings. All stairwells must be clearly marked with illuminated letters.

Address change

If you require a change to a property’s address, please submit a service request using the electronic form.

Address numbers in detailed plan areas

In zoned areas, address numbers progress sequentially along the street according to the plot division. Each plot or building site is assigned its own number.

Attach the address number to the building so that it is clearly visible from the street or other thoroughfare. In urban areas and detailed plan areas, the number sign must be illuminated.

Address numbers in sparsely populated areas

In sparsely populated areas, the address number is based on the distance from the starting point of the road. A so-called divisible by 10 system is used.

Example: if a building is located 100 metres from the start of the road, the address number will be 10. In practice, the last digit of the distance is omitted.

Outside zoned areas, the address number must be placed at the junction of the driveway so that it is visible from the road.

Navigation issues

Different navigators and map services may sometimes display addresses incorrectly. The municipality is not responsible for the information provided by these services; responsibility lies with the service provider.

The city supplies address data to national systems, from which other services retrieve their information. You can check up-to-date information on the city’s own map service and provide feedback there.

If you notice an error in another service, please contact the service provider directly. You can usually report an error, for example, via the application’s feedback function or a separate form.
