General notice procedure

The general notice procedure is a process similar to an environmental permit for activities defined in the Environmental Protection Act.

A notice must be submitted to the municipal environmental protection authority for activities subject to notice. Examples of such activities include animal shelters, depots for more than 50 buses, lorries, or similar work machines, storage facilities for hazardous liquid chemicals, food and feed industry operations, small-scale shooting ranges, and amusement parks.

How to proceed

Submit your notice using the forms available on the state environmental administration website below. Send the carefully filled in form and its attachments by email to the City of Hämeenlinna Environmental Protection at kaupunkirakenne@hameenlinna.fi. Submit the notice no later than 120 days before the planned start of operations. A fee according to the charge will be charged for processing the notice.

Operations may be started at your own risk if the environmental protection authority has not issued a decision within 120 days. The decision must be complied with regardless of any appeal. The environmental protection authority supervises compliance with the decision in the same way as with environmental permits.
