Registration in the environmental protection information system
A registration notice must be submitted to the municipal environmental protection authority for activities listed in appendix 2 of the Environmental Protection Act.
Activities subject to registration include energy production plants with a fuel capacity of less than 50 MW, liquid fuel distribution stations, asphalt plants, concrete plants and concrete product factories, as well as dry-cleaners and activities using organic solvents.
How to proceed
Submit the registration notice using the forms available on the national environmental administration website below. Send the carefully completed form and its attachments by email to the City of Hämeenlinna’s environmental protection unit at kaupunkirakenne@hameenlinna.fi. Submit the notice at least 60 days before starting operations. For energy production plants, the registration notice must be submitted at least 30 days before starting operations.
Registration is a recording procedure that does not involve an administrative decision or an order. Operations may begin once the environmental protection authority has registered the activity or 90 days have passed since the notice was submitted. The authority will send information about the registration to the operator. A fee will be charged for the registration in accordance with the established charge. Operations must comply with the relevant sector-specific decree.
